Photo

[edit]

I am removing a photo of the duke as it is superfluous. The same photo - enlarged - is in the box.--Brenont (talk) 21:08, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Insane omission

[edit]

What'd he die of? It's a glaring omission. Not even a SENTENCE on his death. This doesn't make Wikipedia look good. One's first speculation as to why such an omission might occur is that he died of a venereal disease and Wikipedia is shamefully capitulating to "influence" from a prominent family and keeping it quiet. If that is what is going on, note my protest that it's not what a reputable encyclopedia does. Or did he die by suicide? Same thing. Say so. Don't bow to pressure. If on the other hand his death is NOT scandalous, merely omitted without a political reason, it's not a COMPETENT look for you even though it might not be a MACHIAVELLIAN one.2603:7000:9906:A91C:1C64:8308:33BC:E2D6 (talk) 00:14, 26 June 2021 (UTC)Christopher L. Do you have any reliable sources we can use for his death? Or are you just speculating wildly? DuncanHill (talk) 00:25, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
May I add the question: "Where did he die?"? Unreliable sources differ: familysearch.org says London; wikitree.com says Blenheim Palace. Philip Trueman (talk) 04:12, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I must agree that the precipitous end of this article ("two years later [he] evicted her", meaning approximately 1929) is crazy. All we have after that is the date of his death. Not the place, not the cause, no mention of burial site. The whole last 5 years of his life vanish. Unlike @Christopher L. Simpson, I don't assume it was hushed up, but imagine someone got lazy. Surely this information is out there (Debrett's?): this guy was Duke of Marlborough and a cousin of Winston Churchill. At least @Philip Trueman looked. I did too, but all the circular-language fluff on the Web got in the way. JingleJim (talk) 13:09, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So, you couldn't find it so other editors must be lazy? DuncanHill (talk) 13:20, 17 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely not STD! it was cancer, as far as I have read, at least in the 1960s book "The Churchills, a Portrait of a Family" (don't have in my possession) and in Martin Gilbert's 'Winston Churchill: The Wilderness Years' (copy I do have but need to look up) as his death coincided with the period discussed. Winston was open enough to mention the C word in the Times obituary he wrote of his cousin.Cloptonson (talk) 08:29, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
UPDATE: I have now created a section Death, adding information from Martin Gilbert's book. Where he died and where buried can be added to by those who find published info to answer the questions.Cloptonson (talk) 19:00, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
