As of April 6, 2020, Peter Michael Thomson, a white-collar crime defense lawyer at Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann in Louisiana, to be inspector general of the CIA. The position that has been vacant for 1,893 days — or more than five years — according to the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, or CIGIE.[1][2]

Another clean up of the article

[edit]

The article originally described the OIG Iran-Contra report of 1987 as "related to CIA involvement in Contra cocaine trafficking." This is incorrect. The 1987 report dealt with central Iran Contra issues and did not touch on CIA or Contra involvement in drug trafficking. This was instead the subject of two other OIG reports, completed and released in 1998, following the controversy over the Dark Alliance news series. Corrected and added a page reference to the criticism in the report of the Congressional Iran-Contra investigation. Rgr09 (talk) 14:50, 4 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
