This page is not very clear

Wow, it is really hard to figure out from this Wikipedia page what CIRM does. It is mostly a funding agency, not a research institute. I don't think that any research is done at CIRM, unlike all of the other stem cell institutes that are listed on this Wikipedia page. The history section here is mostly a deep dive into CIRM's first couple of years, which I guess were controversial, and a listing of a couple of programs that it has funded (not sure why those were selected) without clearly explaining what it does (fund research and create policy). Is it ok to add some background that's a little more of an overview? There is some background on the Proposition 71 and 14 Wikipedia pages, and there are several news articles over the last 20 years suggesting it is important to Californians. Agree, this is a nearly useless article. There was some very significant controversy around the creation of CIRM that is not discussed here. CIRM supporters made some bold promises of fast medical breakthroughs that are not discussed here. Nothing at all about outcomes that CIRM has achieved, which was the promise to California taxpayers. 73.241.120.52 (talk) 14:20, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
