I'll do this one. I planned to finish it tonight, but I'm just a bit too tired! I should be able to complete it tomorrow. On a first read through it seems well researched and written. IAWW (talk) 23:24, 28 January 2025 (UTC)

- Hi @Arconning, thank you for addressing the points. There were some more edits I felt were necessary to make it well written, but I felt they were minor enough to go ahead and do myself. I'll pass now, but if you have any issues with the edits I made feel free to ping me on the talk page. IAWW (talk) 11:10, 31 January 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Lead
[edit]I think "flagbearer" is two words in British English. IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I believe it's just the sources that contain these? Arconning (talk) 10:12, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- That is true. This means the ones in the infobox should be changed. I think that is beyond the GA criteria though, so I'll leave it as a suggestion. IAWW (talk) 11:05, 31 January 2025 (UTC)

Qualification and lead-up to the games
[edit]McMaster qualified for the games first after achieving a time within the entry standard of 48.70 seconds. He ran a time of 47.26 seconds in the men's 400 metres hurdles on 20 July 2023 at the P-T-S Meeting 2023 in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, thus qualifying him for the games: This is very convoluted, could you make it a bit more concise? IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I restructured this sentence for clarity and flow. Let me know if you have any issues with it. IAWW (talk) 10:43, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
Brathwaite then qualified through the world rankings within his event, where he placed 35th out of the 56 athletes able to qualify for the men's 100 metres: This is quite vague, are these the 56 people that achieved the qualification time, or the 56 highest ranked people regardless of the time they achieved recently? IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I also restructured this further, to make it clearer. Lmk if you have any issues. IAWW (talk) 10:55, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
Hodge presumably qualified for the games between 4 and 6 July 2024 after receiving a reallocated quota spot from World Athletics when the spots of other athletes in the event were rescinded by their National Olympic Committees despite qualifying beforehand: I think this is original research, and should be replaced with a footnote saying that no sources describe how she qualified. IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
Event
[edit]where he raced in the sixth heat and ran in a time of 10.13 seconds, placed third out of the nine people in his heat and qualified for the semifinals: I think this reads much better with "placing" rather than "placed", and "qualifying" rather than "qualified". IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
The same point ^^ shows itself several times through the article. IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- I think you missed one of these, so fixed it myself, with the edit summary "parallel structure fix". IAWW (talk) 10:58, 31 January 2025 (UTC)
first heat of his semifinal IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
For Hodge, she competed: Conciseness IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
placed fifth out of the eight people in her round, and was relegated to the repechage round for a chance to qualify further: Cut the comma (WP:CINS) IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
I think "repechage" should be linked IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
At the semi-finals, she raced in the first round semifinal against eight other competitors IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
The winner of the event was Gabrielle Thomas of the United States: Suggest mentioning the finishing time for consistency with the paragraph above. This also applies to the paragraph below. IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

Event
[edit]Lettsome competed in his event from 1 to 5 August 2024: This makes it sound like Lettsome was the only one to compete at this time. IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
scored 215 points and placed 38th overall[, he] though placed second in his fourth race: Added comma and "he" IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Suggestions (not needed for GA promotion)
[edit]You could improve your conciseness quite a bit. I mentioned some of the points above, but not everything since it is mostly concise enough for GA. I suggest WP:REDEX if you would like to improve this. IAWW (talk) 20:11, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
