[edit]VALID QUESTIONS:
"Ritman spend so much money aquiring the books that he got into financial problems" "and had to sell them off. Part of the collection was sold by the bank and a third of it was bought by the Dutch state."
Answer No.1: Ritman was never peniless. He borrowed heavilly from the ING bank and it foreclosed all of a sudden. There is not a stain on his caracter and he has since been decorated with the" Order of the Dutch Lion". The art collection (Etches, rugs, jugendstil jewellery) was sold, the most precious books were brought to the vault of a London auctioneer. But Ritman won! After the sale of his company he received 60 million Euro and ALL 20 000 books. One third of this collection was bought by the state for 18.7 million Euro.
It seems my first source was not reliable. I will correct my mistakes!

Relocation of some of the books to The Hague
[edit]There seems to be a change, someone in Holland should investigate and document it if true. Please see this article: http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2010/12/unique_rare_esoteric_book_coll.php

CH 1471 image and claim
[edit]The version in the Ritman library is from 1503 and looks different as one can deduct from this video and this instagram post.

The image originates on a blog which used it to illustrate that the Ritman Library was selling a first edition CH, not claiming this to be the a first edition CH previously in the Ritman Library I believe. Even if I should be completely off the mark and this was once displayed in the Library it seems to no longer be there. https://heterodoxology.com/2011/06/13/buying-back-the-corpus-hermeticum/
I am hesitant to delete both as I have never been to the Library but if anyone has it would be great if they could confirm or deny this, possibly while taking a photo of the actually existing CH copy in the library. Bari' bin Farangi (talk) 01:23, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
