Improve this article by providing reliable sources

[edit]

This article can be improved by adding information on the organization's activities. References should also need to be added with every information provided. Shibir activity in Universities

[edit]

There should be more details on the terrorist/violent activities as well as encroachment upon basic human rights like free speach Shibir has orchastrated in various Universities in Bangladesh in the 1980s and 90s including Chittagong University, Rajshahi University and Jahangirnagar University. If I'm not mistaken, they have been banned from open activity at jahangirnagar University since the late 1980s/early 90s due to the killings of numerous students in an attempt to gain control of the University student halls. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.56.33.2 (talk) 13:08, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

I agree, it doesn't even cite any sources. Does it?--Tarif from Bangladesh 17:58, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the talk of user: 130.56.33.2. This artile shoule be removed. My logic is that there are few other student organizations in Bangladesh as Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Dal, Bangladesh Student League. And If i am not mistaken there is no article for the other student organization. Then why WP agree to put it here. Either delete the article or place all other main student organizations profile in WP. Thanks. --Sushantaa 15:00, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shibir is the only student organization which care about charecter.

Shibir is the only organization where no single rapist could be found. Shibir is the only organization which urges its members to be a good student. Shibir is the only organization where no terrorist could be found. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.0.8.12 (talk) 05:31, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tag Removal

[edit]

In this article lots of tags are listed at the beginning without any discussion at talk page. I think most of the problems are already resolved. If anyone has any doubt about this, please express your concern in this thread. Otherwise I will remove the tags tomorrow. Thanks. --FreemesM (talk) 01:23, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No points raised in support of these tags. So I am removing them. If someone can show valid points, he can bring those tags again.--FreemesM (talk) 06:30, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This article contains many unreliable sources.

[edit]

This article contains many unreliable sources. In bangladesh Shibir are well known as good student. Only few people and a political party think that they are terrorists. If shibir has too many weaponry, so why the members of this party are being killed. Why they don't use their weaponry. Verily Shibir does not have anything. Actually the violent student's political organisation is Bangladesh Chhatra League, although now all sources about it were cancelled. Ermejoso (talk) 19:36, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

All references used in this article are reliable secondary sources. Moreover this is not a forum or such place of debate where you compare an organisation with other. If you know any information good or bad about the topic of the article than you can add them in the article from a neutral point of view with proper reliable references. - Rahat (Talk * Contributions) 02:56, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Issue of NPOV

[edit]

The point of view of this article cannot be considered neutral, taking into view that this page has being heavily edited to demonize the organisation. There is a lack of verifiable information, including history, the organogram, the activities which may be socio-political (not just that of terrorism), presidents of shibir, etc and the other technical details which would provide a fairer and more accurate picture.

If you have information with proper references about the topics you mentioned above, please add those to the article to make it neutral. - Rahat (Talk * Contributions) 04:55, 18 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much. I intend to in the coming days and months. Thank you for your advice. Mohammad Hossain 19:16, 18 August 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Husain007 (talkcontribs)

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra ShibirBangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir – The name of this page does not properly match with the actual name "Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir". Robiaid (talk) 03:20, 11 September 2016 (UTC) --Relisting. — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 01:24, 20 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. Although their official site seems to use the proposed name,[1] plenty of other sources cited in the article do not.[2][3] I'd like to see a better explained rationale for this move, than simply "it does not match with the actual name". We do not automatically pick the WP:OFFICIALNAME for something, we must go with the WP:COMMONNAME as found in reliable sources. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 22:05, 19 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Do not add fake information

[edit]

Shibir is not a student wing of any political party of Bangladesh. It can be easily justified by their constitution. But without adding any source, repeatedly writing/mentioning it as a student wing of Jamaat is not acceptable.Rahatadnan17 (talk) 05:47, 12 May 2019 (UTC) Rahat[reply]

Move this Article on the correct name of the organization

[edit]

The correct name of this organization is Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir.

Official name: Chhatrashibir (not Chhatra Shibir)

See this website and en web and one news There are also numerous news sources with the organization's official name. Dv24mail (talk) 12:01, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 22 April 2025

[edit]

Bangladesh Islami Chhatra ShibirBangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir – :I actually want to transfer the article of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir to their official name.

The correct name of this organization is Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir.
Official name: Chhatrashibir (not Chhatra Shibir)
See this website and en web and one news There are also numerous news sources with the organization's official name. Dv24mail (talk) 12:27, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose: Traditional name is Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir.[4] Also Chhatra (ছাত্র) and Shibir (শিবির) are different words in Bengali language. Somajyoti 16:58, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We are talking about English official name, not the Bengali. Even they also use and write Chātrô & Śibir jointly as Chātrôśibir in Bengali. Ahammed Saad (talk) 17:50, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The reason is Jamaat Ameer: Islami Chhatra Shibir is closest to students, Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) , South Asia Terrorism Portal, Zahidul Islam elected president of Chhatra Shibir, Nurul Islam new secretary general | The Daily Star, Jamaat’s Islami Chhatra Shibir was once ranked third most active non-state armed group - The Economic Times, Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) , South Asia Terrorism Portal. Somajyoti 18:03, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
you are right Dv24mail (talk) 07:59, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If Chhatra and Shibir are different words, then by what logic is Chhatra and Dal the same word? Dv24mail (talk) 21:20, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If there's a mistake in another article, then that mistake needs to be corrected there. That mistake is not to be repeated here. Somajyoti 08:22, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I have reverted the undiscussed move of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatra Dal, that seems to be a similar case where common name should be used instead of official name. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 12:26, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose per Somajyoti and 2016 RM. Also we don't automatically use the WP:OFFICIALNAME so that isn't an argument.  — Amakuru (talk) 22:25, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Strong support per nom. I previously moved, but got reverted. Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatradal was moved for similar reasons and none opposed, but I wonder why to oppose here. Ahammed Saad (talk) 17:47, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The official name of the Chhatrashibir is being retained by using grammatically illogical explanations instead of using it. An organization's official name should be Wikipedia. Once upon a time, everyone was wrong in many ways, now it should be transferred to the right name. Dv24mail (talk) 21:17, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
