This article states in its introduction that Paul Simon and "Peter Tosh and Mick Jagger" were white male singers who had previously recorded songs in Jamaica prior to Serge Gainsbourg recording this album. Firstly, Peter Tosh was not white, so that part needs to be worded more accurately. Secondly, Paul Rodgers of the band Free recorded a song called "I Just Want To See You Smile" with the Maytals in Jamaica in 1972. I first heard about this song from the Free box set "Songs of Yesterday" (https://www.discogs.com/master/1135246-Free-Songs-Of-Yesterday). The booklet in that box set states that the song was initially recorded at Compass Point Studios (which was located in the Bahamas). That however must be incorrect since Compass Point Studios first opened in 1977. Furthermore, the song seems to have been released as a single only in Jamaica, and that single has its own listing on Discogs, toegther with a photo showing that it was recorded at Harry J Recording Studio in Kingston, Jamaica (https://www.discogs.com/release/10127888-Paul-Rodgers-I-Just-Want-To-See-You-Smile). The Discogs listing backs up the Free box set claim that the song was recorded in 1972. Dowellchris (talk) 15:34, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
