Treatment: Pharmacological Interventions

[edit]

There is a Cochrane review about pharmacological interventions. It looks at 8 different studies involving drugs as treatment for AsPD. The review concluded that there is little good quality evidence for what may be an effective treatment, these studies did find that bromocriptine, nortriptyline, and phenytoin were superior to placebos. This could be added to the treatment section and the cochrane review could be added to the sources.

Treatment: Psychological Interventions

[edit]

There is another cochrane review on the psychological interventions for AsPD. This review examined 11 different studies. Contingency Management and CBT should be added to this page as possible treatment options, and this review should be added as a new source.

Dissocial personality disorder

[edit]

The inclusion of the term "dissocial personality disorder" not only as an alternative name in the lead but also a whole sentence about the topic latter down in the lead is obviously WP:UNDUE since the term is relatively niche. The only reason it is considered an alternative name is that it was once featured in the ICD-10. However, since that version is outdated and has been replaced by the new ICD-11, which has completely revised the definitions and diagnoses of personality disorders, the name is obsolete. I suggest removing it from the lead. The Blue Rider 23:38, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It’s also important to note that the term is mentioned only once throughout the entire article, aside from the lead, and only in passing to indicate that it was once included in the ICD-10; giving more strenght to the WP:UNDUE argument. The Blue Rider 23:45, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging @NuanceQueen for input as they were the person who originally added it. RachelTensions (talk) 14:46, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@RachelTensions Thanks for pinging! I think I must have seen it later in the article text and added it to the lead. @The Blue Rider I'm totally okay with removing it from the lead -- to be honest, I don't remember adding it. Given that it's uncommon, but has been used as an official diagnostic term, I think including it in the infobox is an appropriate solution. NuanceQueen (talk) 03:01, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@NuanceQueen Problem solved, thank you! RachelTensions (talk) 03:13, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have reformulated the whole lead and put the alternative name in the infobox. Tell me if you are okay with that. The Blue Rider 14:29, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Narcissistic Personality Disorder

[edit]

I believe there needs to be more on the link between Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Antisocial Personality Disorder. There is only a couple sentences briefly describing how people with Antisocial Personality Disorder sometimes have narcissistic features. It could describe how people who have Antisocial Personality Disorder also are high risk for NPD due to them sharing a lack of empathy, sense of entitlement, and becoming manipulative. Then, it could show some of the differences, such as how people with Antisocial Personality Disorder are more likely to demonstrate aggression and antisocial actions while NPD is more focused around being valued and personal grandiosity. It could further touch on how both of these disorders can develop due to childhood trauma, or due to a lack of validation during childhood years. Hi Samuel and welcome to Wikipedia! If you have good, secondary sources – and please also check WP:MEDRS – then please be bold and write a section about it! With friendly regards, Lova Falk (talk) 07:46, 22 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DSM

[edit]

Is the use of the DSM allowed? I might be missing it but I don't see anywhere expressing that permission was given to use the DSM. I understand that the section is reworded/ paraphrased and isn't directly quoting the DSM but is it still allowed? I am still learning the ins and outs of wiki editing so I apologize if I am misunderstanding the rules on this. Bwlnp3 (talk) 04:55, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Causes: Psychological

[edit]

This section talks a lot about serotonin specifically when it comes to psychological causes on the neurotransmitter section, which is good. Serotonin defiantly could be a psychological cause, but it's not the only cause. There a lot of potential other neurotransmitters that could be discussed. Such as Glutamate and GABA. https://www.psypost.org/brain-chemistry-imbalance-revealed-in-violent-offenders-with-antisocial-personality-disorder/

Also Dopamine:

Also Norepinephrine:

All of these other neurotransmitters should be at least discussed more to give a more in depth explanation of the psychological causes. Teran1019 (talk) 05:12, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome Teran1019! Feel free to go ahead and edit the page. The first source that you mention is a description of a single study. Please be careful not to base your edits on the results of a single study. The other two are reviews, much better! Lova Falk (talk) 06:57, 24 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements on Anti-Social Personality Disorder

[edit]

Some of the improvements of this disorder include therapy in which helps over time. However, it is hard to treat due to how severe the disorder is. Agreen44 (talk) 17:56, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what the point of this comment is? Are you suggesting a change to the article? DonIago (talk) 20:52, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, i just wanted to add feedback to the article. Agreen44 (talk) 21:03, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
