He was assassinated in 1121

Was he assassinated by Hassan-i-Sabah and/or the Hashshashin? --Stbalbach 06:49, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)

That seems likely...I couldn't find anything that said that specifically, but I'll keep looking. Adam Bishop 16:33, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Aha, Steven Runciman says he was assassinated by the Hashshashin. I've added that here. Adam Bishop 01:05, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Well, now I see that Ibn al-Qalanisi says he was definitely *not* assassinated by the Hashshashin, that was just an excuse made by the caliph. I'll add that too. Adam Bishop 18:50, 18 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
This article....

Al-Afdel's early life and linage and his unsual name

[edit]

The name Shahanshah is a strang name for an Armenian, Arab born in Palestine in that period. Shahanshah is a Persian term meaning the king of all kings and the usage was limited to ancient Persian Emprors. I am wondering if anyone has ever read it in about the personal life and linage of Al-afdal? Ammadisabo (talk) 09:03, 24 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
