Promo or regular single?
[edit]One or two sources might call this a promo single but most just say it's a single. Part of the problem is that the Weeknd put together a free-to-view short film called After Hours to promote the album After Hours, but the short film is not strictly a music video for the song. Rolling Stone says "The Weeknd continues to blur reality and fiction with his new short film After Hours, a promo for his upcoming album", while Nylon says "So imagine my frustration when The Weeknd dropped a 'short film' for After Hours (the album, not the most recent single of the same name)".
Most sources just say the song is a single, equal to the previous two singles:
- Vulture "new single, “After Hours,” the title track off his new album."
- Vulture again "The Weeknd promoted the album and its singles 'After Hours,' 'Heartless,' 'Blinding Lights,' and 'Scared to Live'...
- Elle "The Weeknd's 'After Hours' Lyrics Seem to Be About His Deep Regrets Leaving Bella Hadid... The Weeknd released the third single off his upcoming album After Hours at midnight..."
- Livewire "...the lead single, 'Heartless.' The single was the first of three... The announcement of the album came mid February along with the title track single, 'After Hours.' The song was accompanied by a short film a few weeks later that connected to the two music videos before.
- Spin "The R&B singer released his latest single, 'After Hours,' in the early hours of Wednesday morning..."
- BET "The Weeknd Drops New Single, 'After Hours,' Ahead Of His Forthcoming Album Release"
- Cosmopolitan "His single/title track 'After Hours' dives headfirst into the regret he’s experienced..."
- Complex "Ahead of the album’s arrival, the Weeknd debuted three singles... Finally, the singer debuted the album’s title track, a tale of a failed relationship, in February 2020. Judging by these three singles..."
That's why I keep changing the infobox back to single rather than promo. Binksternet (talk) 06:33, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
