Questionable Data

[edit]

Psilocybin mushrooms and LSD are strong activators of 5HT2C.

This is not supported by the main 5-ht receptor article, or even by the list of agonists on this page. Fireemblem555 (talk) 22:03, 8 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"agomelatine is an effective antidepressant." I hardly feel this has been proven as the evidence published in international literature is circumstantial at best..

I agree with the above... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.59.196.126 (talk) 17:15, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to change it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.59.230.222 (talk) 02:42, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mesulergine is a 5-HT2C antagonist not an agonist —Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.225.252.130 (talk) 21:25, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This page is ripe with armchair pharmacology

[edit]

Multiple paragraphs of baseless rambling coupled with hyper-simplified mechanistic reasoning to conclude clinical effects. Not to mention the verbatim internet pharmacologist folklore of "Agomelatine exerts its antidepressant actions via 5HT2C" to which there is more evidence to the contrary than in support.

I hate to be so snark, but the author(s) of the mechanism of action section knew exactly how baseless their reasoning was when they wrote it. I propose removing this section outright. Oro Temp (talk) 19:41, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
