So I think the results section may be slightly misleading in terms of the Class that Maclay and Morris were elected to. It is true that Maclay's seat became class 1 and Morris's seat became class 3, but at the time of the election it wasn't known the length that the terms would be. This election occurred in September 1788 but the senate classes were not set until May 1789 (See "Journal of the Senate of the United States of America". Journal of the Senate of the United States of America, 1789–1793. Library of Congress. May 14, 1789). I think this is a mistake from the source "U.S. Senate Election - 30 September 1788" (PDF).
