Taizicheng–Xilinhot railway
Taizicheng–Xilinhot Railway (Chinese: 太锡铁路) is a railway line under construction in northern China, connecting Taizicheng, a town in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, to Xilinhot, the seat of Xilingol League in Inner Mongolia. The line is designed to enhance connectivity between the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Inner Mongolian steppe. The project began on 8 December 2022 and is scheduled for completion by June 2026, with a planned construction period of 1,278 days.[1] The line is approximately 394 kilometres (245 mi) long and is built to support electrified trains operating at speeds of up to 160 km/h. As of early 2024, civil engineering, electrification, and station works along the Zhenglan Banner–Xilinhot section had progressed significantly. Construction paused during the winter season and resumed in April 2024.[2]
Route
[edit]Upon completion, the line will reduce travel time between Beijing and Xilinhot to approximately 4.5 hours. It will also improve access to Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia, and promote regional integration and tourism in the grassland areas of Xilingol.[2]
The railway passes through a series of counties and banners in Hebei and Inner Mongolia, including:
- Taizicheng, Hebei
- Chicheng County
- Guyuan County, Hebei
- Fengning Manchu Autonomous County
- Duolun County
- Zhenglan Banner
- Xilinhot, Inner Mongolia
The new station in Zhenglan Banner (正蓝旗站) was structurally completed and opened for limited operations in September 2023.[3]
