Svante Forsbäck
Svante Forsbäck (born 1971 in Ekenäs, Finland[1]) is a Finnish mastering and owner of Chartmakers Oy.
Henrik Otto Donner's teachings
[edit]Forsbäck became interested in recording and mixing in the early 1990s, when he went to study in Sweden, and after his studies he started as an intern in Ekenäs, at Henrik Otto Donner's studio, where they transferred Love Records's tape material to hard drives in digital format. The rise of digital music in the 1990s led to the founding of a mastering studio called Digital Editing Room with Donner, in which he still has a small stake. When Forsbäck founded his own studio, Donner helped him, among other things, by lending him equipment.[1]
As a sound engineer and mixer
[edit]Following his studies and work, Forsbäck moved to Helsinki in 1994. He honed his skills by working for ten years at Swedish Theatre as a mixer and sound designer, including on the hit musical Hype, which was performed 250 times. As a live mixer, Forsbäck has collaborated with Ville Pusa, Ben Granfelt and Aki Sirkesalo, among others.[1]
Forsbäck has mastered over 3 000 albums during his career. His collaborators have included PMMP, The Rasmus, Apocalyptica, Chisu, Ismo Alanko Teholla, Volbeat, Paleface, Jenni Vartiainen, Amorphis and Sonata Arctica.[2] Forsbäck has also remastered six albums by Rammstein.[1]
