Suruke is an administrative ward in the Kondoa District of the Dodoma Region of Tanzania. According to the 2002 census, the ward has a total population of 11,711.[1]
Geography
[edit]Suruke is located in the northern part of Kondoa District, which lies within the semi-arid central plateau of Tanzania, characterized by savannah vegetation and scattered hills.[2]
Economy
[edit]The ward’s economy is mainly based on subsistence farming and livestock rearing, with maize, millet, and sunflower being the most common crops grown by local farmers.[3]
Culture and Demographics
[edit]Suruke is primarily inhabited by the Gogo and Sandawe ethnic groups, who maintain cultural practices such as traditional music, dance, and oral storytelling.[4]
Infrastructure
[edit]Suruke has basic rural infrastructure, including a primary school, a dispensary for basic health services, and seasonal roads connecting it with Kondoa town and nearby villages.[5]
