The Sonata for piano four-hands in F major, K. 497, is a sonata for piano four-hands in three movements composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1786.

History

[edit]

Mozart composed the sonata for piano four-hands in F major in Vienna in August 1786,[1][2] between composing his operas Le nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni. He may have written it to play it with a student, Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin' daughter Franziska von Jacquin.[1]

Movements

[edit]

The sonata is structured in three movements:

  1. Adagio – Allegro di molto
  2. Andante
  3. Allegro

It is Mozart's only sonata for piano four-hand with a slow introduction to the first movement.[1]
