Saliu Hassan Ajisafe

Hassan Ajisafe Saliu is a Nigerian political scientist and academic.[1] He is a professor of Political Science at the University of Ilorin, where he has served in various administrative roles, including Head of Department and Dean of Faculty. He is known for his work in foreign policy analysis, international relations, and political economy.[2]

Early life and education

Saliu earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Bayero University, Kano, graduating as the best overall student in 1987. He went on to obtain a Master of Science degree in International Relations from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1989, and later completed his Ph.D. at Bayero University in 1995.[3][4]

Academic career

Saliu began his academic career in 1990 as an Assistant Lecturer at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna. In 1998, he joined the University of Ilorin, where he rose to the rank of Professor in 2002. He has published extensively and delivered scholarly papers in various international forums, including a presentation in Berlin in 2011 on Germany’s peacekeeping policy.[5][6]

Professional affiliations and public service

He is a Fellow and Vice-President of the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA) and a former Vice-President of the Nigerian Society of International Affairs (NSIA). Beyond academia, he has served as a consultant to international organizations and the Nigerian government.

Saliu is also active in community development and religious affairs, serving as a member of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) and the Ilorin Emirate Council of Ullama.[7]
