Quách Thu Phương

Quách Thị Lan Phương (born 1977), commonly known by her stage name Quách Thu Phương, is a Vietnamese actress.[1][2] She is known for her roles in several television series such as Của để dành, Đừng bắt em phải quên, and Hương vị tình thân.[3][4] She was once dubbed the "Vietnamese screen beauty"[5] thanks to her gentle, elegant, and graceful beauty, tinged with a contemplative, nostalgic sadness.[6][7] She currently works at the Youth Theatre.[8][9][10]

Biography

Quách Thu Phương was born and raised in the mountainous district of Yên Thủy, Hòa Bình province, in a family with no artistic background.[11] She came to the stage by chance following a casting call by the Hà Tây Drama Troupe.[8] Quách Thu Phương was originally a stage actress and one of the prominent faces of the Youth Theatre.[12]

In 1998, she left a significant impression on audiences with the role of Lan in the television series Của để dành, directed by Đỗ Thanh Hải.[13] However, at the peak of her career, Quách Thu Phương suddenly withdrew from the small screen to dedicate more time to caring for her children.[14]

In 2019, at the 4th International Experimental Theatre Festival held in October, she won a gold medal for her leading role in the play Dưới cát là nước.[15] In 2020, after many years of absence, Quách Thu Phương officially returned to her acting career with the role of Ngân in the film Đừng bắt em phải quên.[16][17] In 2021, she played Mrs. Xuân - a mother with a childish, short-sighted, impulsive, and gullible personality - in the series Hương vị tình thân.[18]
