Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium (sometimes referred to as the Qiddiya Stadium) is a proposed multi-purpose stadium, planned to be built in Qiddiya, an entertainment and tourism megaproject in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is set to be a venue for the 2034 FIFA World Cup and has a proposed capacity of 46,979 people, where it is due to host fixtures in the group stage, round of 32, round of 16, and the 3rd place playoff.[1]
The stadium is named after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.[2][3]
Description

[edit]Construction on the stadium will[speculation?] begin in 2026 and its opening will take place in 2029,[speculation?] when it will be used by Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr of the Saudi Pro League.[4][failed verification]
The stadium bowl is designed with a distinctive three-sided arrangement that offers views of the Tuwaiq cliffs. Its futuristic aesthetic is due to be achieved through the use of iridescent glass, LED glass and screens, solar panels, and perforated shimmering metal.[1] The stadium is expected to be the world’s first fully integrated venue with a combined retractable roof, pitch and LED wall.[4]
Located approximately 35km southwest of Riyadh, the stadium is expected to be part of the larger Qiddiya development, which is planned to include additional sporting facilities, accommodations and other amenities.[4][failed verification]
Post-2034
[edit]Following the conclusion of the World Cup, the stadium will[speculation?] serve as the primary home of the two Riyadh-based powerhouses in the Saudi Pro League: Al Hilal and Al Nassr. Moreover, the stadium will host a variety of alternative events, including concerts and esports, made possible by its innovative retractable pitch. Additionally, it will[speculation?] feature an Olympic Museum, celebrating the Olympic and Paralympic legacies of the nation.
