Pauline Clément

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pauline Clément (born November 8, 1986[1]) is a French actress. After a period of academic failure linked to dyslexia she pursued several lines of employment including carpentry, cabinetmaking and aesthetics before discovering her passion for theater and improvisation.[2]

Clément is known for playing many roles, on different registers and on very varied platforms: the Comédie-Française, satirical sketches[3] and the mini series Abonne-toi[4][5] of Yes vous aime on YouTube.[3] Explaining her choice of an atypical and offbeat career, she stated:[6] It's true that it sometimes gives me the impression of leading a double life [...] but I find my balance there. At the Comédie-Française, they choose the roles for me, it is oriented towards what I can play, even if they are pieces that are very different from each other, and sometimes very modern. In Yes, I am freer, I can create characters.[7]

At the Comédie-Française

[edit]

In 2015, Pauline Clément became a resident of the Comédie-Française. She plays in Les Derniers Jours de l'humanité of Karl Kraus staged by David Lescot in 2015.[8] In 2016, she played Hélène in Un chapeau de paille d'Italie of Eugène Labiche staged by Giorgio Barberio Corsetti.[9] She also plays in La Ronde of Arthur Schnitzler (staged by Anne Kessler).

She then played in La Règle du jeu (under the direction of Christiane Jatahy), in L'Hôtel du libre-échange of Georges Feydeau (staged by Isabelle Nanty) She performed Hyacinte in Les Fourberies de Scapin of Molière (staged by Denis Podalydès).[10]

In 2020, she was appointed to the Molières Awards in the category 'female revelation' for her role in A Flea in Her Ear of Feydeau, produced by Lilo Baur.[11]

Yes vous aime

[edit]

As the only woman in the humorous group Yes vous aime since the departure of Louise Coldefy, Clément assumed a feminist sensitivity in the writing and interpretation of her roles.[12]

At the cinema

[edit]

On the cinema side, Pauline Clément was cast in Amer et Partie fine, two short films of Guillaume Crémonèse and Bertrand Usclat, two of his friends from the collective Yes vous aime. In 2016, she made an appearance at the beginning of the film C'est la vie ! from the duo Nakache & Toledano. In 2017, she was part of the cast of Lola et ses frères of Jean-Paul Rouve. In 2021, she was in the cast of the romantic comedy Je te veux, moi non-plus, in the role of Lulu, a friend of Nina performed by Inès Reg.[13] On display at Jumeaux mais pas trop, on September 28 at the cinema, the actress found her sidekick Bertrand Usclat and collaborated for the first time with the comedian Ahmed Sylla.[14]

In 2024, she starred in Une fille au-dessus de tout, a romantic comedy from Jean-Luc Gaget.[15]
