National Doctors Forum (Bengali: ন্যাশনাল ডক্টরস ফোরাম, lit. 'National Doctors Forum') (NDF)[a] is a pro-Jamaat doctors organization in Bangladesh.[7][8][9] NDF was officially established in 1989.[10]

Alliance

It participates in elections of Bangladesh Medical Association in competition with the Awami League-backed Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed Doctors' Association of Bangladesh.[11][12] It atleast once had an alliance with the BNP-backed Doctors' Association of Bangladesh.[12]

NDF is affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami[9] and also a member of the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA).[1]

History

In 19 May 1989, the National Doctors Forum (NDF) was established by Yusuf Ali with 35 doctors and medical professionals.[10]

In 1997, a committee was formed.[10]

In 1999, another full committee was formed.[10]

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader Motiur Rahman Nizami was arrested in June 2010 at a program of NDF at the Jatiya Press Club.[13]

In April 2013, It provided medical assistance to Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh in support of Hefazat's 13-point demands in Khulna.[14]

In July 2014, the National Doctors Forum organized a human chain to protest against IDF attacks on the Gaza Strip in Palestine, the human chain was held in front of the UN Office in Agargaon, Dhaka.[4]

In September 2024, a new committee of Cumilla Branch of NDF was declared,[10] a conference of Tangail District unit of NDF was held,[15] a new committee of the psychiatric wing of NDF was formed[16] and NDF held a rally in Shahbagh, Dhaka.[17]

In November 2024, a rally was organized by the Mymensingh Divisional branch of NDF.[18]
