The website's consensus reads: "A peek at the man behind the persona, or vice versa, the work of Mark Cousins sings with genuine compassion for Alfred Hitchcock."[5] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 75 out of 100, based on 11 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.[6]
Peter Sobczynski of RogerEbert.com gave the film three and a half stars out of four and wrote, "Hardcore cinema students will no doubt find it a fascinating exploration of Hitchcock's work.
