Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat (at Meta-Wiki only)

Meta-Wiki has a small active community. When a normal user requires the assistance of an administrator or bureaucrat for some particular task, it is not always easy to find one. This page helps users find one when they need one; asking specific admins directly via their talk pages is one way to elicit a fast response. It is only for assistance required at Meta-Wiki, help for other wikis needs to be requested at those wikis.

• Before posting to this page, make sure your comment doesn't belong at one of these specific request pages:

Correct several special pages

Hello,

I don't know whether an interface administrator is needed to make the following correction.

In the special page "User rights" of a temporary account IP viewer, for instance Special:UserRights/NicoScribe, the group name "Temporary account IP viewers" uses the redirect page Meta:Temporary account IP viewer, which is a link to Meta:Temporary account IP viewers. Instead of the redirect page Meta:Temporary account IP viewer, we should use the direct link Meta:Temporary account IP viewers.

Well, Special:UserRights/NicoScribe does not show the group name "Temporary account IP viewers" anymore, because a mantenance script has revoked my rights (and the rights of all local temporary account IP viewers). I don't know whether an interface administrator is needed to make the following corrections.

In several special pages, the name of the global user group Global temporary account IP viewers is incorrect:

• in Special:GlobalGroupPermissions/global-temporary-account-viewer, the "Localised name of group" is "Temporary account IP viewers" (but it should be "Global temporary account IP viewers") and the "Localised name of group members" is "temporary account IP viewer" (but it should be "global temporary account IP viewer")
  • I suppose that these corrections of Special:GlobalGroupPermissions/global-temporary-account-viewer will automatically correct the problems below
• in Special:GlobalGroupPermissions, the group name is "Temporary account IP viewers": it should be "Global temporary account IP viewers"
• in CentralAuth of users, for instance in Special:CentralAuth/Arcyon37, the global group is named "Temporary account IP viewers": it should be "Global temporary account IP viewers"
• in Special:GlobalUsers, when we choose the group, the text is "Temporary account IP viewers": it should be "Global temporary account IP viewers"
• in Special:GlobalUsers, when we click "Go", we see the accounts but, next to their names, the text is "temporary account IP viewer": it should be "global temporary account IP viewer"

While interface admin right does not needed (sysop permission is enough to edit some MediaWiki message key locally), I'm sure this must be done on translatewiki.net. If the base value (in English here) of a system message is inaccurate, it is usually better to fix it upstream than to override it locally. That can be requested on Phabricator. — xaosflux ^Talk 13:55, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
