Mathieu Barrau (born 3 September 1977 in Beaumont-de-Lomagne, France is a French international rugby union scrum half principally for SU Agen.
Barrau made his international début for France in July 2004, against usa, but would have to fight with Pierre Mignoni, Dimitri Yachvili, Frédéric Michalak but mostly Jean-Baptiste Élissalde for the France number 9 shirt. .
Career
[edit]Born on 3 September 1977 in Beaumont-de-Lomagne, Mathieu Barrau is a former French international rugby union scrum-half primarily associated with SU Agen. Standing at 1.73 m and weighing around 79 kg, he began his senior club career with Stade Toulousain (1995–1997), followed by spells at USA Perpignan (1997–1999), SU Agen (1999–2005; 2006–2009), and Castres Olympique (2005–2006). Barrau earned three Test caps for France, making his international debut during the 2004 tour of North America—with his first match against the USA—and concluding his national career within the same series . At club level, he made significant contributions, appearing in European competitions with Perpignan, Agen, and Castres, and was part of the Perpignan side that reached the French Championship final in 1998.[1][2][3]
