Lagocheirus rosaceus is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae. It was first described by Jean Baptiste Boisduval in 1835.[1]

Description

[edit]

Lagocheirus rosaceus is a medium-sized longhorn beetle characterized by an elongated body and long, thread-like antennae. The species displays a mottled brown and reddish coloration, which serves as camouflage against tree bark.[2]

Distribution

[edit]

This species is native to Mexico and parts of Central America. It has been observed in various habitats ranging from tropical forests to arid regions, often found on decaying wood and tree trunks.[3]

Ecology

[edit]

Lagocheirus rosaceus primarily feeds on dead or decaying wood, making it an important decomposer within its ecosystem. The larvae develop inside logs, where they tunnel and aid in the breakdown of organic material.[4]

Conservation Status

[edit]

There are currently no known conservation concerns regarding Lagocheirus rosaceus. However, habitat destruction and deforestation may pose potential threats to its population in the future.[5]
