Konakalla Narayana Rao (born 4 May 1950) is an Indian politician who served as a member of the Lok Sabha, representing the Machilipatnam constituency in Andhra Pradesh. He was elected in the 2009 and 2014 elections as a candidate of the Telugu Desam Party. [1][2] Rao is a member of the Goud community. [3][4] Besides his political career, he is involved in social and cultural activities in Machilipatnam and organizes theatre competitions. [5]
Political career
[edit]Konakalla Narayana Rao is a member of the Telugu Desam Party. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Machilipatnam constituency in Krishna District, Andra Pradesh, In the 15th Lok Sabha (2009) and 2014 (16th Lok Sabha) elections.
During the 15th Lok Sabha (2009), he was appointed as a member of the Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas and served as a panel speaker in the Lok Sabha as part of the Panel Of Chairpersons.

Development activities
[edit]While contesting the Lok Sabha elections, Rao's election promises included the re-establishment of the Machilipatnam port, the doubling and electrification of the Machilipatnam-Gudivada-Vijayawada railway line, the creation of a new Machilipatnam–Repalle railway line, the modernization of Machilipatnam Railway Station, the expansion of NH 214A into six lanes from Machilipatnam to Vijayawada, and the conversion of the national highway into a four-lane road from Machilipatnam to Ongole. Reportedly, these projects are at various stages of implementation.[7]
Personal life
[edit]Konakalla Narayana Rao was born on May 4, 1950, in Machilipatnam, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, to Shri Ganapathi and Smt. Kasi Eshwaramma. On May 30, 1975, he married Smt. Padmaja, and they have two sons, Kiran Ganapathi and Chaithanya Ganapathi.
