Canadian tennis player (born 2005)
Kayla Cross (born 21 March 2005) is a Canadian tennis player.
Cross has a career-high singles ranking by the WTA of 269, achieved on 18 November 2024. She also has a career-high WTA doubles ranking of 180, achieved on 25 November 2024.[ 2]
Having lost as a wildcard entry in the first singles qualifying round,[ 3] Cross made her WTA Tour main-draw debut at the 2022 Canadian Open in the doubles, partnering Victoria Mboko .[ 4]
She reached the finals of two junior Grand Slam tournaments in 2022, losing both doubles competitions at the Australian Open [ 5] and at Wimbledon .[ 6]
Cross was runner-up at the 2024 Championnats Banque Nationale de Granby , losing to Maria Mateas in the final.[ 7]
She won the biggest title of her career to date when she took the doubles crown at the W75 2024 Calgary National Bank Challenger alongside Maribella Zamarripa , defeating Robin Anderson and Dalayna Hewitt in a champions tiebreak in the final.[ 8] [ 9]
Partnering Liv Hovde , Cross reached the doubles final at the 2024 Fifth Third Charleston 125 , losing to Nuria Brancaccio and Leyre Romero Gormaz .[ 10]
