KAXL (88.3 FM "Life-FM") is a non-commercial, listener-supported radio station broadcasting an adult contemporary Christian music format. Licensed to Greenacres, California, it serves the Bakersfield metropolitan area. Life-FM is owned by Skyride Unlimited, Inc.[2] News updates are provided by AP Radio. The station seeks donations on the air and on its website.

KAXL is a Class B1 FM station with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 21,000 watts. The transmitter is on Superior Road at Sullivan Road in Rosedale. The studios are on Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield.

History

The station signed on the air on May 4, 1994; 30 years ago (1994-05-04).[3] It has always had a Christian radio format. Before it went on the air, Skyride Unlimited bought the construction permit for $4,000 in 1991. Skyride supervised the building of the studios and transmitter.
