Joel Cohen (born May 29, 1942) is an American musician specializing in early music.[1] Cohen was involved with the Boston Camerata, an American early music ensemble.[2]
Cohen was the Music Director of the Boston Camerata from 1968 to 2008, and is Music Director Emeritus. He founded the Camerata Mediterranea in 1990. He has frequently collaborated with French-born soprano Anne Azéma.[1]
From 1992 onwards the Boston Camerata and Joel Cohen collaborated with the still-functioning community at Sabbathday Lake (USA) and recorded together two albums (Simple Gifts and The Golden Harvest) of Shaker songs.
