Jaime Alberto Preciado is an American musician, best known as the bassist of the rock band Pierce the Veil. He also acts as co-chairman of the Living The Dream Foundation, alongside Vic Fuentes and Tony Perry.[1]
Early Life
[edit]Jaime Alberto Preciado was born on May 17th, 1986, in San Diego, California to Mexican-born parents. He was raised alongside his brother Chris. He met his wife, Jessica Rose, in 2003, the couple married in 2019. Preciado was heavily involved with the San Diego music scene from a young age, having played in Hardcore band Trigger My Nightmare. Career

Preciado joined Pierce the Veil in 2007 after brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes contacted Tony Perry, the guitarist for Preciado’s then-active band, ‘Trigger My Nightmare’, after which they recruited Preciado and Perry, who have remained in the band till present. Preciado took over from Vic Fuentes on bass, as Fuentes was at the time writing and recording vocals, lead guitar, rhythm guitar and bass. After which he only sang and played rhythm guitar when Preciado took bass, and Perry took over lead guitar duties shortly after the release of A Flair for the Dramatic.
Preciado also contributes to the bands backing vocals, most notably screaming and heavier vocals when performing live.[3]
Preciado joined the band just after the release of the bands debut album, A Flair for the Dramatic (2007). In the following years, he has released four albums with the band, Selfish Machines (2010), Collide with the Sky (2012), Misadventures (2016), and their return album, 2023's The Jaws of Life.[4]
He is known for his high stage presence and fan interaction, even more so than his bandmates Vic Fuentes and Tony Perry, who themselves are very involved with the audience. He often doesn't play basslines in their songs to instead dance around on stage and pay attention to the audience.
The band went on hiatus between 2017 and 2022, followed sexual misconduct allegations against founding drummer Mike Fuentes. Following the bands return, they released a fifth album, The Jaws of Life in early 2023. The band have since toured on their own The Jaws of Life and Creative Control tours, opened for American Pop Punk band Blink-182 on their 2024 North American Tour, and are currently undertaking their I Can't Hear You World Tour[5], Which kicked off in Charlotte, North Carolina on May 5th, 2025 and is set to end on April 16th, 2026 in Perth, Australia.[6]

[edit]As of 2023, Preciado hasn’t released any independent content, however he was highly involved in Pierce The Veil’s drummer, Mike Fuentes’, side project, in which he rapped under the alias MikeyWhiskeyHands, a project in which Preciado arranged the backing beat under the alias The Architechhh.[7]
Charity work
[edit]Preciado is a co-chairman of Living The Dream Foundation along with Pierce the Veil vocalist Vic Fuentes and guitarist Tony Perry. Which operates similarly to the Make a Wish Foundation, giving young kids with life threatening illnesses the ability to meet their favourite musicians.[8]

Preciado has used Music Man StingRay Basses for the entirety of his career both with Pierce the Veil and with his previous band, Trigger My Nightmare. In 2016, around the time the band’s 4th album Misadventures was released, Preciado teamed up with music man to create his own custom basses, both with roasted maple necks with Pierce the Veil themed inlays and Natural finish bodies.
Preciado has been a long term user of Ampeg Amplifiers, using an Ampeg SVT-AV amplifier head through Ampeg SVT 810 cabinets.[9] For a time during the Misadventures tour cycle, Preciado switched to a simple touring rig, consisting of only an Ampeg Micro SVT-VR head and speaker cabinet, with a SansAmp pedal for dirtier tones, as explained in an interview with Ernie Ball for their Sound of Warped series. [10]
