Jaime Eduardo Marc Diaz Cojuangco (born April 12, 1997) is a Filipino politician currently serving as the representative of the 1st district of Tarlac in the House of Representatives of the Philippines.[1] He is a member of the NPC, the party founded by his grandfather, Danding Cojuangco. Cojuangco assumed office in 2022 as a substitute for his father, the late congressman Charlie Cojuangco.[2][3]
Early life and family
[edit]Jaime Eduardo Marc Diaz Cojuangco was born on April 12, 1997, in Paniqui, Tarlac, Philippines. He is the son of former congressman Charlie Cojuangco and former actress Rio Diaz. His sister, Claudia Diaz Cojuangco, is also a public figure.[citation needed]
Cojuangco comes from a prominent political and business family. His grandfather, Danding Cojuangco, was an influential businessman and politician who founded the NPC. His grandmother, Gretchen Cojuangco, and his aunt, actress and former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz, are well-known personalities. His cousin, Isabelle Daza, is a popular actress.[citation needed]
Political career
[edit]Cojuangco entered politics in 2022 as a substitute candidate for his father, Charlie Cojuangco, who passed away on February 22, 2022, due to arrhythmia dysautonomia. Running under the NPC, he won the May 9, 2022 elections by a significant margin, defeating independent candidate Joseph Ramac.[4]
Since assuming office on June 30, 2022, Cojuangco has focused on continuing his father's legacy by advocating for infrastructure development, education, and healthcare in Tarlac's 1st district.[citation needed]
Personal life
[edit]Cojuangco maintains a low-profile personal life. He is known to be close to his family, particularly his mother, Rio Diaz, and his sister, Claudia Diaz Cojuangco.[citation needed]
