Idhayam Murali (transl. Heart Murali) is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language coming-of-age romantic drama film directed and produced by Aakash Baskaran under Dawn Pictures. The film stars Atharvaa in the titular role, and Kayadu Lohar in lead roles, alongside Preity Mukhundhan, Natty Subramaniam, Niharika NM, Thaman S, Rakshan, Pragya Nagra and Sudhakar. It is the first film of Aakash as a director and also marks Thaman's return to acting after 22 years.
The film was officially announced in February 2025 under the tentative title Dawn 4, as it is the fourth project of Dawn Pictures, and the official title was announced a few days later. Principal photography commenced the previous May. The film has music composed by Thaman S, cinematography handled by Manoj Paramahamsa and CH Sai and editing by Pradeep E. Ragav.
Idhayam Murali is scheduled to be released in either June or July 2025.

Production
[edit]In late May 2024, it was reported that Aakash Baskaran would make his directorial debut with a project starring Atharvaa, Thaman S and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles.[1] The following December, Atharvaa confirmed the project and also stated that principal photography had already commenced that May with the shoot of a promotional teaser. The teaser was released on 13 February 2025, announcing the project officially, by Dawn Pictures, with the film named in honour of Atharvaa's father, Murali in the 1991 film Idhayam.[2]

The soundtrack is composed by Thaman S, in his first collaboration with Atharvaa and Aakash.[2] The first single "Idhayaa" released on 21 March 2025.[3]
