Hernani is a village in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia. It is situated approximately 44kms West of Dorrigo[8] and 106kms South of Grafton.[9]

Hernani covers an area of 238.9467 square kilometres.[4]

Transport

The locality is accessible from Grafton via Armidale Road Where it ends and joins Waterfall Way.[10][9] The nearest airport is located the Coffs Harbour Airport.

Name

Major Edward Parke, an early squatter, named the area after its resemblance of similair lans scapes of Hernani in the Spanish Basque province of Commons.[1][11]

At the 2021 census, Hernani has a population of 117 people.[2] At the 2016 census, Hernani has a population of 126 people.[15]
