Gruszewo [ɡruˈʂɛvɔ] (German Grüssow)[1] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Białogard, within Białogard County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, in north-western Poland.[2] It lies approximately 7 km (4 mi) south of Białogard and 109 km (68 mi) north-east of the regional capital Szczecin.
History
[edit]The region was part of the Medieval Duchy of Pomerania which joined the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation to stay with states of Germany until 1945/1990. During World War II, the German administration operated a forced labour subcamp of the Stalag II-D prisoner-of-war camp in the village.[3]
