Emilio Barahona (15 April 1949 – date of death unknown) was a Honduran middle-distance runner. He won Honduras' first medal at the Central American Championships and competed in the men's 1500 metres at the 1968 Summer Olympics.[1]
Career
[edit]Barahona was seeded in the first 1500 metres heat at the 1968 Olympics. He ran 4:56.08 minutes to place 11th, failing to qualify for the semi-finals.[2][3]
At the 1970 Central American Championships in Athletics, Barahona won Honduras' first medal. He finished bronze on the 4 × 400 metres relay with teammates Clovis Morales Chávez, Israel Laitano, and Mario Amador.[4]
Personal life
[edit]Barahona was known as "El Olímpico". He was called one of the most prominent Hounduran athletes of the 1970s.[5] He died before 2014.[4]
