I have changed Margaret's birthdate to c. 1370; this better reflects the six-year period in which she may have been born. It is also important to note that Margaret's sister Elizabeth, described as John earl of Carrick's younger daughter in a charter of 1378, had also been born by 1373. There is no credible source which confirms this, but I would probably assign Margaret's birthdate to the period 1367-70, especially considering David II's grant of the earldom of Carrick to John and Annabella "and their heirs", not specifying the sex of the heirs, in 1368, cit. ref. Michael Penman, David II, East Linton, 2004. This would then place the birthdate of Margaret's younger Elizabeth at possibly 1370 ot 1371. However, I cannot place this theory in the article because it is not confirmed by any published source. AngryScot77 (talk) 04:42, 9 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
