History
[edit]The Ybor City Historical Society (YMHS) formerly known as the Ybor City Museum Society, has been in operation for over 40 years and was originally established to support the Ybor City Museum State Park.[1] Its mission is as follows, "Preserving, promoting, and celebrating the unique cultural heritage of Ybor City." [2]
As of January 2024, YCMS has expanded its mission by rebranding as the Ybor City Historical Society, Reviving the old name from the original historical society from 1962.[3] The Ybor City Historical Society preserves more than 135 years of Ybor City’s history by operating the Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House, and offering the Rolling Through History mobile museum program.
