[edit]In November 2018, it was revealed that Sohum Shah would be working on the sequel to Tumbbad.[1] The makers officially confirmed Tumbbad 2 with a post-credit scene during Tumbbad re-release.[2][3][4] By December 2024, Sohum Shah confirmed that the story for Tumbbad 2 had been finalized,[5] with pre-production expected to span 8-9 months. In an interview with Zoom, he mentioned that filming is set to begin by the end of 2025 or early 2026. Sohum also shared his vision to release Tumbbad 2 as a pan-Indian film, with potential releases in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.[6]
In 2025, during an interview with Fever FM Shah confirmed the shooting will started by the 2025 end as the script is ready.[4]
