Tommy Wong (born 3 May 1986) is a Singaporean businessman, comedian and actor who is the founder of popular Singapore burger chain Nothing But Cheeseburger (NBCB). He is well known for his content on Tiktok & Instagram. Tommy create comedy and short skit type content that is locally grounded and pokes fun at stereotypical Singaporean culture. His breakout content includes his "Daddy" skits where he play a typical local Chinese Asian father who roast his children comically about mundane daily interactions.
Early life
[edit]Tommy is an only child of his family and grew up in the neighbourhood of Tampines. Attending Red Swastika School, he excelled in many sporting events such as 100, 200, 400 and 4x100 metres, long jump and high jump events and even made school captain. He moved on to Tanjong Katong Secondary School after PSLE and completed his GCE 'O' Levels in 2002. He attended Singapore Polytechnic and afterwards Temasek Polytechnic but did not graduate from either polytechnics. He subsequently attained a business diploma in MDIS before enlisting in 2007. He completed his National Service in 2009 and left for Australia to pursue his Accounting Degree in University of Queensland, Australia.
Career
[edit]Tommy returned to Singapore after graduation and started his banking career in POSB Bank and went on to work for Maybank, ANZ Bank and Standard Chartered Bank before exiting the banking industry to pursue a Financial Advisory career in Manulife FA in 2018. In 2021 during the midst of Covid-19, Tommy started a homebased business selling cheeseburgers..[1] due to his then pregnant wife craving for burgers, naming it Nothing But Cheeseburger (NBCB)[2]. It was subsequently a hit with Singaporeans that in February of 2022, he opened his flagship outlet in Orchard Central which remained popular ever since.
During the start of NBCB first outlet opening, Tommy was convinced by his close friend, also a Tiktok Creator Simonboy to market his business on Tiktok. It was a start of his content creation journey and as of today, Tommy has over 100,000 followers on Instagram[3] and over 100,000 followers on Tiktok.
In October 2023, Tommy was casted in Jack Neo's popular movie franchise Money No Enough 3. Since then, Tommy has participated in multiple production and projects, making him one of the most sought after personality for movies, dramas and commercials.
Tommy is currently filming a Mediacorp Channel 5 long-form drama "Provocative"[4] as a major supporting cast (Tiger Sam). He is also slated to star in a movie together with Simonboy & Mayiduo by director Boi Kwong.

[edit]Tommy is married to his wife Janice Chew since 2018[5]. They have dated since 2012. They also have 2 sons together.

Tommy was see in a PAP event "Friends of PAP" which sparked some debate online about media personalities relation with politics.[8]
