Thikana Bridhyasram is a 2020 Bengali-language family drama film directed by Subir Pal Chowdhury and written by Sunil Kumar Ghosh. The film stars Soma Chakraborty, Biswajit Chakraborty, Ramen Roy Chowdhury, Sahana Roy Chowdhury, Debdas Basu, Moumita Chakraborty, and Jhilmi Mukherjee in prominent roles. It was produced by Gravity Entertainment and Manas Adhikari Production, with executive production by Subhadata Industries Pvt. Ltd. The film explores the emotional journey of an elderly mother abandoned by her son and her rediscovery of family and dignity in an old age home.
Plot
[edit]The story follows a devoted mother who raises her only son single-handedly, sacrificing everything for his future. However, after his marriage, her son becomes indifferent to her, heavily influenced by his wife. Eventually, the son sends his aging mother to a Bridhyasram (old age home), believing it to be the right decision.
At first heartbroken and lonely, the mother gradually finds solace and companionship among fellow residents. The film beautifully illustrates her path of silent suffering, new friendships, and rediscovered hope. Meanwhile, her son must come to terms with the emotional consequences of his decision. The film raises a powerful question: Who truly gives us shelter—the people we live with, or those who make us feel at home?
