Tábor is a railway station in the city of Tábor. It lies on the Praha hl.n. – České Budějovice line and is is also a starting point of the Tábor–Ražice, Tábor–Bechyně, and Tábor – Horní Cerekev. It lies about 1.5 km from the city centre, near the Jordán Reservoir.
History
[edit]The station was put in operation in 1871, as a part of the Emperor Franz Joseph Railway line to Veselí nad Lužnicí (extended to České Budějovice in 1874). In 1888, a line from Horní Cerekev was connected to it, in 1889, the line to Ražice was added, and in 1903, the first electrified railway line, leading to Bechyně, was opened.
Modernisation
[edit]On 15 September 2009, a two-year reconstruction of a 12km section Tábor – Doubí was finished. A second track was added, the security mechanism was modernized, maximum speed raised to 110 km/h (160 km/h for tilting trains) the station was reconstructed, and elevators to the platforms were added. A new station, called Tábor-Čápův Dvůr, was opened.
Since 13 October 2022, the station has been controlled remotely from Prague.[2]
