Biography

Dr. Syed Asad Ali Shah (born February 15, 1972) is a Pakistani academic, researcher, entrepreneur, and author.[1] He is known for his contributions to sociology, research methodologies, media studies, and technology-based academic platforms. Shah has served as a faculty member at universities in Canada and Pakistan and is the founder and CEO of TRIM Global,[2] an organization providing research journal development services worldwide.

Early Life and Education

Shah was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and completed his early education in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.[3] He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Punjab, majoring in Journalism and History. Shah completed his MBA from Al-Khair University with a focus on Marketing and Information Technology.

He pursued advanced degrees in international relations at Iqra University, obtaining an MS and an M.Phil., where he was awarded a gold medal for academic excellence.[4] Shah later completed his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada.[5] His doctoral research focused on the social construction of Muslim minority groups in Canadian society, later published as a book.[6]

Academic Career

Shah began his academic career as a sessional lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, teaching social research methods.[7] In Pakistan, he has served as Assistant Professor at Iqra University[8] and as visiting faculty at Riphah International University.[9] His teaching focuses on research methodology, development studies, and international relations, and he has conducted workshops on various research tools including SPSS, R, NVivo, and EndNote.

He is an approved Ph.D. supervisor by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.[10]

Professional Career

Shah is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of TRIM Global,[11] an organization that provides end-to-end solutions for establishing academic research journals. Through TRIM Global, he assists universities, think tanks, and research organizations with services like OJS installation, domain hosting, Crossref DOI registration, ISSN acquisition, and international indexing.

In addition, he co-founded Fake News Watchdog,[12] a platform dedicated to monitoring and responding to misinformation in Pakistan.

Shah has also served as Head of Research and Technology at Anthro Insights, overseeing research planning and technological innovation strategies.

Earlier roles include consultancy with the Saskatoon Regional Economic Development Authority (SREDA) on economic opportunities for First Nations and Métis communities, and community development projects in collaboration with NGOs and the Pakistani government.

Shah has authored multiple research articles published in peer-reviewed journals.[13] His research covers topics such as Muslim minorities in Canada, Pakistan's foreign relations, digital citizenship, the cultural impact of CPEC, fintech, and sustainable development goals.

Shah is married to Sadia Asad. They have three children: daughters Sara Syed and Saba Syed, and a son, Hamza Syed. He is fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, and is currently learning Chinese (Mandarin).[23]
