Submission declined on 28 July 2025 by Qcne (talk). This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. Declined by Qcne 2 days ago. | ![]() |

Strise
[edit]Strise is a Norwegian software company that develops artificial intelligence (AI)–powered tools for automating regulatory compliance. Its platform is used to support anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), and know your business (KYB) workflows. The company is headquartered in Oslo, with an office in London and serves customers globally.
History
[edit]Strise was founded in 2016 by Marit Rødevand, Sigve Søråsen, and Patrick Skjennum in Trondheim, Norway. The company originated from research at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU),[1] focused on AI, semantic search and graph-based data modeling. Its first commercial product was launched in 2020.
Technology
[edit]Strise’s platform uses AI, entity resolution, enrichment, and graph analytics to consolidate data from multiple sources into structured profiles of individuals and companies. The system enables compliance teams to screen for politically exposed persons (PEPs), sanctions, and adverse media, and supports ongoing monitoring for financial crime risks.
Research and industry impact
[edit]In 2024, Strise conducted experiments demonstrating that large language models, such as ChatGPT, could be manipulated into advising users on money laundering and sanctions evasion. CNN reported on the findings, quoting CEO Marit Rødevand, who described the chatbot as “a corrupt financial adviser in your pocket.”[2]
Funding
[edit]In 2023, Strise raised $10.8 million in a Series A funding round led by Atomico, the London-based venture capital firm founded by Skype co-founder Niklas Zennström. The investment was intended to support the company’s expansion and product development.[3][4]
Recognition
[edit]In 2023, Strise was awarded the Oslo Innovation Award.[5] In 2024, it was named to Fast Company’s annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies in the "Data Science" category.[6]
Expansion
[edit]Strise opened a London office in 2024 to support its expansion into the UK. Shifter reported the company’s revenue growth and plans for further international scaling.[7]
Partnerships
[edit]In 2023, Strise entered the insurance sector through a partnership with Storebrand,[8] one of Norway’s largest insurers. Later that year, the company partnered with PwC Norway to support AML automation in the consulting industry.[9]
Public commentary
[edit]Strise CEO Marit Rødevand has contributed opinion pieces to major international publications on topics related to artificial intelligence, financial regulation, and crime prevention.
In June 2025, she published a letter in the Financial Times arguing that the rapid growth of fintech firms requires a proportional increase in regulatory responsibility.[10] Earlier that year, she contributed an op-ed to Fortune on U.S. financial deregulation.[11]
Rødevand also hosts The Laundry, a podcast covering topics in financial crime, compliance, and artificial intelligence.[12]
Leadership changes
[edit]In 2024, co-founders Sigve Søråsen and Patrick Skjennum stepped down from the company. Marit Rødevand continues as CEO.[13]
