Sten Ohlson (born 1950 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a biochemist and bioentrepreneur. He is a professor of biochemistry[1] currently at Linköping University, Linköping , Sweden as a visiting professor. He got in 1975 a Master of Science in chemical engineering at Lund University, Lund, Sweden followed up in 1980 by a doctorate in biochemical engineering at Lund University. He was a professor in applied biochemistry[2] at Linnaeus University, Kalmar, Sweden (1993-2012) and a professor in applied biochemistry/ biotechnology at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore (2012-2018). He has also held industrial positions (1980-1993) as manager and director of R&D and was a cofounder of four life-science companies (Perstorp Biolytica AB, ProLiff AB, KalBiotech AB and Transientic Interactions AB).

Ohlson's major contributions to life sciences have been centered around research and development in analytical biochemistry and drug discovery. He founded and developed the area of weak affinity chromatography (WAC)[3] of which the major impact application has been for fragment based drug discovery.[4][5][6][7] Further, he has introduced the relevance and concepts of transient/weak/rapid biological interactions as manifested in drug discovery.[8][9] In recognition of these achievements, he received the 2017 ISMR Affinity Award for outstanding contributions in the field of affinity technology.[10][11][12]
