Draft:Scent beads

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scent beads, or laundry beads (in Australia)[1], also known as fragrance booster, laundry scent boosters or in-wash scent boosters, are small, dissolvable beads that are added to laundry to enhance and prolong the scent of clothes. They are designed to dissolve in the wash cycle and release fragrance and are intended for use in a washing machine.[2] The beads or pellets are primarily made of fragrance oils, solvents and surfactants, a gel or resin base which acts as dispersant such as polyethylene glycol (PEG) and sometimes dyes and preservatives.[3][4] Crystal-based beads are usually salt-based,[2] whereas polymer-based beads are typically made of plastic or synthetic polymers.[5]
