Sávio Batista dos Reis is a physician and researcher specializing in vascular neurology and neurointerventional research. He earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and is currently a NIH StrokeNet Research Fellow at Emory University in the United States.

He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles, with a strong emphasis on systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and multicenter observational studies. His primary interests include mechanical thrombectomy, intracranial aneurysm treatment, non-invasive intracranial pressure monitoring, and vascular neurology.

Academic Background Batista graduated with a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 2024. During medical school, he was actively involved in translational research projects at the Laboratory of Neuroprotection and Regenerative Strategies, focusing on customized cranioplasty, neurological rehabilitation, and the use of 3D printing technologies in reconstructive neurosurgery.

In 2024, he began his NIH StrokeNet research fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine, under the mentorship of Dr. Michael Frankel and Dr. Diogo Haussen, with a focus on vascular neurology, endovascular therapy, and clinical outcomes in stroke.

Teaching and Leadership

Batista is the co-founder of Comunidade MB, an online research education platform designed for physicians and medical students. With over 600 enrolled members and 20,000 followers on social media, the course offers training in academic writing, biostatistics, research methodology, and systematic reviews.

He also founded initiatives promoting human development and medical professionalism at UFRJ and was an active member of MedCoJr, a junior consulting group focused on healthcare management.
