Sabitri Pradhan
[edit]Sabitri Pradhan (born 12 January 1991) is an Indian politician from Odisha affiliated with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). She currently serves as the Chairman of the Bhapur Panchayat Samiti, Nayagarh district, and is recognized for her political leadership in the Khandapada constituency.
Early life and education
[edit]Sabitri Pradhan was born on 12 January 1991 in Kanalapada, Ghoradia, Delang, Puri district, Odisha. Her father, Balaram Barik, and mother, Kumuduni Barik, raised her in Ghoradia, Delang, where she spent her childhood. She completed her schooling at Ghoradia High School.
Political career
[edit]Sabitri Pradhan began her political journey in 2017 as a member of the Panchayat Samiti Bhapur, representing Fategarh Panchayat. In 2022, she was re-elected as a Samiti member from Dhanchangada Panchayat and was subsequently appointed as the Chairman of Bhapur Panchayat Samiti, Nayagarh.
From 2022 to 2024, she served as the President of Biju Mahila Janata Dal, Bhapur Block, Nayagarh, where she worked to encourage women's political participation. In the 2024 general elections, she contested the Khandapada constituency as a candidate from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Contributions and social work
[edit]Pradhan has contributed to initiatives aimed at women's empowerment, education for the girl child, and local welfare. She supported the construction of the Dwitiya Ajodhya Shri Ram Mandir in Fategarh and was a patron of Bhapur Mahotsav, a local cultural festival organized by Mo Mati Bhapur.
Personal life
[edit]Sabitri Pradhan is married to Benudhar Pradhan. The couple has two children: a daughter, Subhashree Priyadarshini Pradhan, and a son, Subhrajit Pradhan. They currently reside in Khandapada.
