RaShon Young is an American politician serving as a member of the Florida House of Representatives for House District 40. A Democratic, he won a 2025 special election to succeed LaVon Bracy Davis, who ran in a concurrent election to the Florida State Senate. He previously worked in Bracy Davis' office.

Early life and education

Young graduated from high school in South Carolina then earned a bachelors degree in mass communications from Bethune-Cookman University in 2021.[1] He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha.

Career

Before working in politics, Young worked at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts as a community programming manager and was active in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.[2]

He then worked in the office of LaVon Bracy Davis as a legislative aide then chief of staff, also working on her 2022 campaign as well as her brother, Randolph Bracy's congressional campaign as a strategist.[3]

Young faced former state representative Travaris McCurdy in the Democratic primary election, defeating him with 55.4% of the vote.
