The Purwa Caraka Music Studio Choir (often shortened to the PCMS Choir) is an Indonesian family of youth choirs, founded in March 2007. Composed of Purwa Caraka Music Studio students in the Greater Jakarta, the choir currently consists of two age groups; a mixed children's choir for ages eight to twelve years, and a choir for older girls aged 14 and up.
In 2017, the PCMS Choir won 3 AMI Awards, including the Best Children's Album for the soundtrack Surat Kecil untuk Tuhan, became the first choir to win such award.
History
[edit]The PCMS Choir participated and won gold and silver diplomas for children's choir and folklore categories respectively, at A Voyage of Songs Festival, held from July 3 to 8, 2009, in Malaysia.[2][3]
The selected members of the choir became a part of the opera Ainun along with the students choir of Bandung Institute of Technology, which began production in late 2016.[4] In 2017, they began work on the soundtrack for the family drama film A Note to God directed by Fajar Bustomi.[5] The children's choir performed Alberto Grau's "La Avispa Brava" at the Carnegie Hall on June 17.[6][7] The choir was nominated for the 2017 AMI Award for Best Production Work for Vocal Group;[8] while they won the Best Children's Album and the Best Children's Duo, Group, Vocal Group or Collaboration on November 16, 2017.[9]
On July 21, 2018, the choir held its concert for PCMS' thirtieth anniversary project, Sing.[1] The members of the PCMS Children Choir performed "Indonesia Raya" with Tulus at the 2018 Asian Games opening ceremony, held on August 18.[10]
