History

[edit]

In 1883, the railway stop called Jirná was built on the Northern State Railway [cs] from Prague to Olomouc, on the original cadastral area of Koloděje village; near it, there was a settlement called Kolodějské Zálesí, later merged with Klánovice.

At the beginning of 20th century, the stop was called Jirny, until 1921 Jirny-Koloděje, between 1921 and 1937 Jirny-Klánovice, and then Klánovice.

Description

[edit]

The original railway was double-track. On the platform at the northern side (right view in direction to Prague), there was a station bulding, on the opposite platform, a shelter for the manipulation with luggage was built. The platforms were connected to each other by a pedestrian crossing.

In the 1950s, an underpass replaced the crossing.

Modernization

[edit]

Between 2013 and 2015, a section from Praha-Běchovice and Úvaly was modernized. The Klánovice station was reconstructed; during the reconstruction, station bulding and both platforms were repaired, track speed was raised to 160 km/h, and a new underpass, 4 meters wide, replaced the old one. The new underpass is 20 meters closer to the station building, with staricases and wheelchair acccesible pavements. There is also an anti-noise wall, leading from Slavětínská street to the station building.[2]

Tourism

[edit]

Through the station (or from it), there lead tourist paths (0008, from Uhříněves to Úvaly, (0010, to Říčany, (1003, to Uhříněves), (3117, ring path through Klánovice Forest), and (6001, to Jirny). he station is a starting point of Klánovice forest nature trail (Czech: Naučná stezka Klánovickým lesem) and Forest Gallery nature trail I. and II. (Czech: Naučná stezka Lesní galerie I. a II.) It is also accessible by the bikeways A500 and 8211.
